Orla & Ciaran’s Laid Back Tapas Wedding

ORC-004

We were excited to work with Orla and Ciaran to deliver the laid back tapas wedding they had envisioned. Well we always knew Orla and Ciaran had the laid back part sorted; however, it was definitely confirmed when Orla popped into Sol y Sombra the night before her wedding to drop off the last few bits while wearing…..slippers! Luckily she was only coming from Kingston’s Boutique Townhouse across the road!

Orla and Ciaran were an absolute pleasure to work with, their relaxed personalities made for a very relaxing day for all of their guests. They choose a floral moongate to be the backdrop of their ceremony and we must say, it looked absolutely spectacular. Terry, their florist, is originally from South Africa and used her favourite South African flowers, Protea’s, to really make the bridal bouquet and moongate pop, the results were fabulous. The couple opted for a tapas reception which made for a great interactive dinner, before they feasted on not one, not 2 but 3 wedding cakes! After dinner Vinyl DJ Ian Richardson took to the stage and the couple and guests danced the night away!

Congratulations Orla & Ciaran from all of us in Sol y Sombra.

“We wanted our day to be ‘OUR day’ ,We wanted an informal celebration, a giant hug of love, surrounded by our family and friends, somewhere fun and funky , with incredible food … we wanted a party and boy that’s what we got ! From the minute we walked into the building it felt right! Sol y Sombra is stunning 200 year old church which has converted into an a simple yet tastefully decorated Tapas restaurant. As a refurbished church the building gave the father of the bride the opportunity to walk down a non religious aisle to a beautiful humanist ceremony (which ticked everyone’s box) Aside from its entrance WOW factor what impressed us even more was the amazing staff. Cliodhna and Katie who coordinated our wedding put us at ease at every single step of the way. We can honestly say that ever single time we dealt with them it was an absolute pleasure! We laughed our way through our wedding!!! It was so much fun!!! We never stressed any aspect of it. If we asked, we got! We had lots of silly questions all which were answered with a smile. We used all their local recommendations and could not fault one! We have never heard of a service as personal and faultless as what we received. We opted for a Tapas style meal and couldn’t recommended it more, it is so sociable , we passed plates as we chatted and laughed , drank incredible wine (the restaurant imports in) and basked in the love of happy family and friends. We asked the question ‘will there be enough if we go Tapas?’ The answer …. we rolled bellies stuffed onto the dance floor!!!! Every single guest passed comment on the quality and quantity of food including our 2 Vegan guests who said they had never felt so welcome and well fed, EVER ! We danced till the wee hours in an intimate dance floor under twinkling lights. It was fairy-tale , it was OUR fairy-tale! Thank you to Katie, Cliodhna and the wonderful staff team in Sol Y Sombra you made our day”
